What is IB Career-Related Programme?
The IB Career-related Programme (CP) at SIS offers a flexible and personalised pathway for students aged 16 to 19 who want to combine academic study with career-related learning. It is ideal for students who want to connect their education to future careers while still benefiting from an IB education.
What makes the CP unique?
The CP combines academic courses with practical learning, allowing students to gain both theoretical knowledge and real-world experience. This makes learning meaningful, relevant, and directly connected to future pathways.
How is the CP structured?
The CP consists of three interconnected parts:
- IB Diploma Programme (DP) courses – providing academic depth and rigour
- Career-related study – focusing on a specific professional field
- The CP core – developing personal and professional skills
The CP core
The CP core helps students grow as independent and responsible learners and includes:
- Personal and Professional Skills (PPS) – develop skills such as communication, critical thinking and self-management for future study and work
- Community Engagement (CE) – take part in meaningful experiences that connect learning to real-world issues and service
- Language Development – improve language skills and intercultural understanding in a global context
- Reflective Project (RP) – complete an in-depth investigation of an ethical issue related to your career-related study
These elements support students in becoming confident communicators and reflective thinkers.
Learning for real life
The CP is designed for students who want learning to be practical and relevant. During the programme, students develop:
- Critical thinking and communication skills
- Confidence and self-direction
- Practical skills linked to a career pathway
Preparing for your future
The CP prepares students for a range of pathways, including:
- Higher education
- Apprenticeships or professional training
- Employment
With its combination of academic and career-related learning, the CP supports students in building a clear and purposeful pathway for their future.
